Billy traveled the US as a professional hand-drummer before rediscovering his love of chess in 2019. He served with Chess4Life in Seattle as a lead chess coach and assistant tournament director.
His free spirit and enthusiasm make him an excellent coach for those looking to build their chess skills.
Since his time in WA, he’s run his own programs in CO and TX, helping youth and adults build their skills and grow their love of the game.
How it started.
Billy was coaching chess professionally in Seattle schools when he discovered that many adults want to learn chess, but face a lot of challenges.
Lack of free time.
Information overwhelm.
No chess community.
No real plan for growth.
This insight was the spark that would eventually become the programs that exist today.
